34. Vlad Dracula, the Impaler

This week, in our first ghoulish October episode, the LU Boys talk about one of history’s most misunderstood, troubled young men: Vlad III of Wallachia, more famously known as Vlad Tepes, or the Impaler (ooooh I wonder why…). Best remembered in the public eye as a purported inspiration behind the character of Count Dracula, we will dive a bit deeper into the man revered as one of the most important figures in medieval history.

32. The Fall of the Soviet Union feat. Alex Herbert

This week, Evan and Cam sat down with Alex Herbert, PhD candidate in Soviet History and co-host of the Providence Leftist Radio podcast, to discuss the collapse of the Soviet Union. 31. The Curious Case of Frank Olson

In this week’s episode, we kick off a new miniseries called American Haunting about various supernatural, occult, or unresolved mysteries reverberating throughout America in the 20th century with a look at the curious case of Frank Olson, an American military and CIA scientist who was dosed with LSD on a work retreat and died under mysterious circumstances a week later.

And at the top of the episode, we are joined by friend of the pod Matt Heisler to talk about the death of one of our favorite actors, Michael K Williams, and his myriad incredible performances before Matt departs and we start the main story. 28. American Utopia, pt. 2: Allen Dulles and the Nuremberg Trials

Join us this week as we dive back into American deep politics while we reintroduce you to Allen Dulles, first civilian Director of Central Intelligence. We take a trip first to Dulles as an old man reminiscing on the Bay of Pigs disaster and his cold feelings towards deceased former president John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and then we double back to World War II and Dulles’ double crossing of FDR and he and his team’s manipulating of events to establish the “ratlines” that the Nazi high command took to evade justice and join Dulles and his coterie of freaks as they drag the Cold War into reality.
